Why I built this app
When I bought my house with a pool, I realized pretty quickly that I had no idea how to take care of it.
The test strips gave me numbers I didn't fully understand. The pool store always seemed to recommend buying more chemicals. YouTube videos all contradicted each other. I was spending money, pouring things into the water, and somehow still ending up with a cloudy pool.
Eventually, I started logging all my readings in a spreadsheet just to make sense of it all. Once I could actually see the trends over time, things finally started to click. I learned that the order of adjustments matters. Alkalinity before pH. I learned how stabilizer (CYA) slowly creeps up when using tablets. And I discovered that LSI is the number that really tells you whether your water is balanced.
PoolChem Tracker grew out of that experience.
I wanted something simpler and smarter than my spreadsheet. An app that could calculate exact chemical doses, help me understand what was happening in the water, and show trends over time. All without needing a chemistry background or an internet connection.
